One of our beloved leaders and half-time lead clergy, Matt Humphrey is planning to take some time for a time of healing, renewal, growth and self-care. This will begin on January 15 and last for at least 5 weeks.
As he takes this well earned break, we're reminded that Matt has co-led this community through a relocation, changes in our relationships with our denominations, a Covid-19 lockdown - not to mention numerous changes in his own life including changing relationship realities, parenting children and teens, owning a store - and two physical moves.
This Sunday, we'll pray and send Matt off with our love and blessing toward the end of the worship. Community members will be invited to stretch out or lay on hands.
As Matt leaves, The AbbeyCouncil is stepping in to provide increased leadership.
Lucy, Jen (council members) and Rob (voluntary minister) are working on setting a preaching and presiding rota and Jen has stepped into an increased role in music. Rev. Michelle (voluntary minister) is coordinating kids ministry with our amazing teen volunteers and also acting as liaison with the building management for bookings. Lucy will be doing more aound weekly rota
Of course, in this time, we're asking the whole community to step more deeply into their baptismal (and practical) gifts.!
Join us tomorrow as we send Matt into this time of renewal.
May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you where ever Christ may send you.
May he guide you through the wilderness protect you through the storm.
May Christ bring you home rejoicing at the wonders Christ has shown you.
May Christ bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.
